Theatregoers' Choice Awards
True to their name, the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Theatre Awards are the only major theatre awards in which you, the audience, are the judges across all 24 awards categories.
The awards shortlists - covering the best of London theatre (and a bit beyond) - are drawn up with the help of over 1,000 theatregoers who log on to nominate their favourites. Nominations are announced at a star-studded launch event held in late November/early December. Voting then opens and runs - online here and via our sister print title, What's On Stage magazine - until the end of January the following year.
In 2007/08, a record breaking 25,000 theatregoers logged on to vote, with leaders in many categories fluctuating dramatically from day to day. In the end, the determination of some fields came down to just a handful of votes.
February 2008 also saw the introduction of our Awards Winner's Concert, held at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue and attended by many of the winners and over 800 theatregoers.
